When Vanguard beats the market, it can’t afford to let up

The Vanguard Group said on Tuesday that it expects its performance to outperform the market over the next six months.

Vanguard said it expects the S&P 500 index to close at or near the $600 mark in 2019 and to return to its pre-recession peaks in 2020 and 2021.

Vanguard’s profit growth rate, meanwhile, is forecast to grow at a compound annual growth rate of 9.3% to 12.7% for 2019 and 2021, up from 7.3%, 6.3 and 4.9% for the same periods a year ago.

Vectors annualized growth is forecast at 4.4% to 6.5% for 2020 and 2019, up 2.7%, 6% and 6.1%, respectively.

Analysts polled by FactSet expected Vectrex to post a profit of $1.2 billion in 2019, an increase of 6% over last year.

The company also said it had earned a profit in 2020 of $7.7 billion, an improvement of 3.2% from last year, and a total of $19.5 billion in 2021.
