How to watch the new riviera, live coverage of the 2016 World Cup and more on the BBC News app

RIVIRA, France — Live coverage of France’s World Cup opening match between Croatia and Italy was delayed for a third straight year Thursday after officials delayed the live broadcast by five minutes after the Croatian players collapsed in a warm-up game.

The BBC had previously said it would begin the live show Thursday night.

It was the first time that the show has been delayed since Croatia won the tournament in 2014.

Croatia’s victory over Italy on Friday is the third consecutive victory for the nation, which is hoping to be crowned the first World Cup winner after Brazil in 2019.
